Every pot I make is decorated by hand and is a one off, though I do have a fondess for certain colour combinations. So there are some bright and vibrant pots: oranges, reds and intense yellows, but also softer blues, greens, lavenders, pinks and mauves. There are also lively turquoises, and a super intense blue. I love playing with colours and am mixing new hues all the time.
The clay is a beautiful clean creamy white which shows off the colours to their best advantage.
The black splashes pay tribute to several influences: the artist and illustrator Ralph Steadman, 50s designer Lucienne Day, and also Japanese calligraphy.
The combination of all this is individual small works of art that have a retro feel to them, while still being fresh and modern.
