Liverpool
I’m off to Liverpool next week to take photographs and to create the Iconic Liverpool range of jewellery. It’s not a city I know and I’m looking forward to mooching around and hoping not to get rained on.
My only connection with Liverpool is that I once went for an interview at the University there. They told me at the end of the interview that my spoken French was good but my grammar was rubbish – I could have told them that! But they did offer me a place . . . but in fact I ended up at Leeds instead – another great northern city.
I remember visiting the modern, I think, Catholic cathedral and loving the stained glass, and going across the Mersey on a ferry boat but not much else – it was all a long time ago.
This time there are no tests to pass, and a lot of things to see that weren’t there before including the Tate. I am a member of the Tate and completely unreasonably I get quite annoyed when there is a show on in Liverpool (such as the Klimt show) which I would like to see but don’t coz it’s just too far. Well there is a Picasso show on at the moment so hopefully I’ll see that (though I would have preferred the Klimt) . . . hey ho! I’ll let you know what I make of Liverpool soon . . . .
